- Power of Attorney
At some stage, you may need to consider creating a Power of Attorney. A Power of Attorney is essentially an authority conferred on an agent, the attorney, to act for or manage the financial affairs of another person, who is the principal. There are commonly two Powers, general and enduring. In simple terms this is a legal document that allows another person to act on your behalf.
- Enduring Guardian
An enduring guardianship document is an instrument of appointment which allows for the authority of the appointor (you) to be delegated to your loved one/s in relation to the following functions.
- To decide where you are going to live
- To decide what health care you are going to receive
- To decide what kind of personal services you are going to receive
- To consent to Medical and Dental treatment you may require
- Any other function relating to your particular requirements that we specify in the instrument
This document is part of your housekeeping needs, and should be put in place immediately.Unfortunately most of us do not have a crystal ball to tell us when we will require assistance, and your loved ones will need your permission to work and communicate effectively with the health professionals and other significant people involved with you.
- Contract negotiation for elder care
We can also help you with reviewing and negotiating a contract for your retirement accommodation. It is important that before you sign a contract that determines how much you’ll pay for yourself or your loved one to receive specific care-giving services, you need to have a clear idea of what you want and what you can expect.
